Martin & Alycen Kaiser
Hi, we see you have the NUNNS family from Yorkshire and Gaffaney in your list of ancestors.
Alycen is a grand daughter of Sam & Alice Nunns and we are copiling a Family History of the NUNNS Rothwell to Gisborne NZ. Please let us know if you are connected. I cant see your full name anywhere on this site! Thanks, Martin Kaiser
Maggie
Hi Martin, yes we are connected!! We met recently at my grandmother’s funeral. Will email you, Maggie.

Hi, I found your website when Googling Wateringbury. Not sure if it would be any help of if you are aware of the site Wateringbury Remembered http://www.wateringbury.blogspot.com.
Regards
John

Hi John, yes I have visited your site several times, and enjoyed it very much. Most of the information and photographs post-date my ancestors’ time there, but it’s wonderful to see the history of the village preserved for all to see, so thank you for the sterling work you have done. If only every village had such a curator! 🙂

I found your website while I was searching for my Great-Grandmother, Bridget O’Rourke, born 1846 County Wicklow, Ireland. Her parents are Peter Rourke and Jane Harris. I am completely stuck at this point of my Irish tree.
While I was looking through your Rourke pages I saw a picture of your Margaret O’Rourke and she looks so much like Bridget! Please contact me at: techlyn@sky.com
Thank you,
Lynda

Hi Lynda
Did Bridget marry in Ireland? It would be extremely useful to get a townland or parish name in Co Wicklow, and the marriage place (if in Ireland) would be a good clue for researching further back. Perhaps try Griffiths Valuation for Peter Rourkes in Co Wicklow – though there could be many! But it may narrow down the number of townlands, and from there you could check parish records at the LDS for Bridget’s baptism. I’m sure there are many more avenues you could try, but these are the things I’d start with. I’m still very much a beginner when it comes to Irish records! All the best 🙂
Lynda
Thank you for your reply. (Sorry I’ve only just found you again!)
I have Bridgets birth record:
Church Baptism Record
Name: Bridget Rourke Date of Baptism / Birth: 02/04/1846
Address: Oakfield Parish / District: BLESSINGTON
Gender: Female County Co. Wicklow
Denomination: Roman Catholic
Father: Peter Rourke Mother: Jane Harris
Occupation:
Sponsor 1 /
Informant 1: James Clarke Sponsor 2 /
Informant 2: Biddy Harris
I assume Biddy Harris was Bridget Harris and either an Aunt on her mothers side or other family relative. As you can see it doesn’t tell me much about Peter & Jane. I cannot find records for either of them in Wicklow and other records seem to be for different couples. I haven’t found any for Peter married to a Jane Harris. I just paid to view the only Jane Harris married in Wicklow and she was married to Peter Roberts.

My grandma was Catherine Johanna O’Rourke. Her parents came from County Kerry, Castle Island, Ireland to New York. They settled in the Bronx. Her father was Bryan Bryan O’rourke (Bryan B. O’rourke) and her mother was Catherine Reidy. Are we related?
Maggie
Hi Stacey, it’s difficult to know if we are related! I had a look through my tree, and I only have one Brian recorded, born 20th century in New Zealand. That’s not to say there isn’t a connection, but I haven’t researched further back than my 3 x great grandfather Michael O’Rourke. In the 1850s he was farming land in Ballymacdonnell, not far at all from Castleisland, so it’s possible there is a link, perhaps through his (alleged) siblings Jeremiah and John. Have you checked baptism records in Co Kerry for your great grandfather Bryan?
Hope Brosnan
Hi I am looking for any history of first brosnans to nz Daniel and Nellie Brosnan.

Kia ora, my 3 great grandmother is Catherine Hoare nee Seeler (c1805-1900) from Co. Kerry. She arrived with her husband Patrick and children on the Echunga in 1862. I cannot seem to find out much about the Seelers in Ireland and New Zealand. There were other Seeler families who arrived later in the nineteenth century and also settled at Kerrytown. I have a DNA match to the descendants of Samuel Seeler. I would be grateful for any information you have on them.
